The lodge

Tisza Lodge, an old barn converted into a charming guesthouse, is situated in an authentic Hungarian village, only about 1.8 miles (3 km) from the beautiful Lake Tisza. It has 6 restful and comfortable rooms with en-suite bathrooms.

The lodge is supplied with all conveniences for the guests, including a sunny garden to relax in. Once you experience this atmosphere, you will want to return again and again, and Patrick and Anita, your host and hostess will be there, waiting for you.


The hosts

Anita and Patrick, a young Belgian couple made their dream come true. They have traveled the world from South Africa to Latin America and Eastern Europe, to find the ideal place to welcome guests in a relaxed atmosphere. They found that place in Tiszaderzs, Hungary.

Tisza Lodge has only 6 rooms, so their guest can always count on their personal attention. After a delicious Belgian-Hungarian breakfast, they can help you choose a destination for the day, or they can just let you choose a relaxing day in their spacious garden, curled up with a good book from their small but exquisite library.

Whatever your choice, you will be surrounded with good energy, so expect something special.


The rooms

• The family room has a double bed and a bunk bed that can be separated, and its bathroom is equipped with a bathtub.

Lake Tisza

In the extraordinary water world and romantic surroundings of Lake Tisza, beach lovers, water sports enthusiasts, and silence-seeking anglers can all find a spot that suits their needs. Over 50 species of fish reside in Tisza Lake, so “the catch of your life” may just be hiding in these waters.

In the Tisza Bird Sanctuary more than 150 bird species invite to marvel at nature’s exquisite beauty and wealth.

Nearby attractions

• Abadszalok is one of the most frequented places by Lake Tisza. It abounds in water sports facilities, and it has a bubbling nightlife.

• Tiszafured is the center of the lake. Its market is perfect for your morning stroll on Thursdays and Saturdays, and its pottery museum and thermal baths invite for a day of feasting the eyes and relaxing the body.

• Hortobagy National Park proudly carries the title of “UNESCO World Heritage Site”, and it is the best place to discover the world of “POESTA”.

• “The gold of Kiskunsag”, Berekfurdo welcomes guests in every season. Its thermal bath and open-air pool are ideal for visitors who seek healing or refreshment.

• Eger is Patrick and Anita’s favorite town, with lots of places of interest and nice shopping streets. Wine lovers can go to “Szepasszony volgy” (Valley of the pretty lady) just outside the town, and take a wine tasting tour of the various wine cellars.

• Debrecen, referred to as the “Calvinist Rome”, is the scientific and cultural center of northeast Hungary, also a renowned festival town. The large forest of Debrecen is a popular recreation area, including the thermal and adventure bath, “Aquaticum”.

Itinerary from Budapest via the M3 highway

In Budapest, take highway M3 towards Miskolc, until exit 114, Fuzesabony, Eger, Tiszafured. (114 is also the km distance from Budapest; approximately 71 miles.)

From the exit follow route 33 towards Poroszlo, until you reach Tiszafured. Keep following road 33 towards Debrecen for just over half a mile (approximately 1 more kilometer), until you see a granary on your right. Just after this, you take the first road to the right, in the direction of Abadszalok, Fegyvernek. After 4.3 miles (7 km) on this road, you will drive through Tiszaszolos. Continue on this road for another 1.5 miles (2.5 km), and then turn right at the bifurcation, in the direction of Abadszalok.

3.7 miles (6 km) after this, you will arrive to Tiszaderzs. Stay on the main road. On your right you will pass the church; take the second street to the right from there. Follow the road for about 109 yards (100 m), and Tisza Lodge will be on your left.


Itinerary from Budapest via road 4 (main road; no highway)

From Budapest you take road 4 in the direction of Szolnok – Debrecen. Keep following this main road until you pass Szolnok (approximately 62 miles; 100 km). Keep following the road until you pass Torokszentmiklos as well. Then you take exit 34 towards Fegyvernek – Tisza-to. Keep following this road through Kunhegyes, where you take the road towards Abadszalok.

From here you keep on the main road until you arrive to Tiszaderzs. There you will take the first street to the left, past the water tower.
