MiG-29 landing @ the 2007 Kecskemet Air Show
There is a buzz in the Kecskemet air as the Event Organization Committee, staff, and pilots of the Air Base prepare to host this year’s event, organized in honor of the 160th anniversary of the Hungarian Armed Forces and the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Air Force. Twenty-five invitations were sent out, and to date (May 20, 2008), all but three teams confirmed their participation.

According to
JETfly Magazine, hundreds of hotel rooms have already been reserved in Kecskemet and in Budapest, and the organizers prepare to start ticket sales from the beginning of June. Good news for returning enthusiasts, ticket prices remain the same as in years before (adults: 3500 HUF, children under 14: 1500 HUF pre-purchased; +500 HUF on site), and they will be available everywhere, where lottery tickets are sold, and also at Ticketpro offices throughout the country.
One of the largest and most sensational air shows of Central Europe will honor the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Air Force with a
static display of the aircraft used by the Hungarian Air Force, starting from the
Po-2 Soviet biplane , through the
Li-2 to the
MiG-23 and
MiG-29. The gates of Kecskemet Air Base will open to the public on August 16 and 17, 2008.
