Fans of the International Airshow and Military Display in Kecskemet will be delighted to learn that this normally biannual event will be organized again in 2008. In honor of the 160th anniversary of the Hungarian Armed Forces and the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Air Force, the gates of Kecskemet Air Base will open again on August 16 and 17 to welcome foreign guests and local enthusiasts alike.
According to data from January 28, 2008, Defense Minister Dr. Imre Szekeres and General Andras Havril, Chief of Staff invited the following countries to participate in the event:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, The Netherlands, China, Poland, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Russia, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, USA, Red Bull Team, and Hungary.

7.30 Gates open
8.30 - 9.40 Performances of Military Bands, musical routines, and flyovers
10.00 - 17.30 Airshow
18.00 Gates close
The programs are identical on both days.
2008 Air Show Preparations Are Well Underway

There is a buzz in the Kecskemet air as the Event Organization Committee, staff, and pilots of the Air Base prepare to host this year’s event, organized in honor of the 160th anniversary of the Hungarian Armed Forces and the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Air Force.
Twenty-five invitations were sent out, and to date --May 20, 2008-- all but three teams confirmed their participation.

This year’s Hungarian International Air Show & Military Exposition at Kecskemet Air Base was an exemplary one of those two-day events, which attract aerobatics enthusiasts and military fans from all over the world to Kodaly’s city every other year.
