The Moor Frog (
Rana arvalis; Moorfrog, Swedish Swamp Frog, Altai Brown Frog;
mocsári béka) is a characteristically northern species. It can be found on the northernmost parts of Europe. In Hungary, we can meet this frog with a tapered nose on the flatlands and hills, in damp bogs and meadows, and on the floodplains. It has a light, unspotted belly.
In February, during the mating season, the
males develop a bright blue coloration.
